Come for an interactive field day on organic vegetable varieties! Walk through ongoing
variety trials, give feedback on you favorite varieties and ask questions of the many
researchers working on organic vegetable varieties!
Seed to Kitchen collaborative: This collaboration among chefs, farmers and breeders is a unique opportunity to focus on vegetable flavor
Northern Organic Vegetable Improvement Collaborative (NOVIC):
NOVIC is partnering with organic farmers to breed new varieties and identify the best performing existing varieties for organic agriculture. eorganic.info/novic/
Novel Beet Breeding: Participate in a breeding effort to select varieties for either high or low earthy flavor.
Carrot Improvement for Organic Agriculture: Check out breeding populations with novel color, flavor and increased top vigor. eorganic.info/carrotimprovement
Organic Potato Seed Production and Breeding: trials of organic seed potato production, including heirloom, specialty and new potato lines, tracking tuber health and economics.
Sweet Corn Breeding: Culinary corn – improving heirloom varieties for local production. We also have new open pollinated populations of sweet corn developed for organic systems.
Tomato trials: We are comparing production in the field, caterpillar tunnels and high tunnels. Field trials also include breeding lines in the Tomato Organic Management and Improvement project, seeking to combine exceptional flavor with resistance to late 2018 Organic veg field dayblight, early blight and septoria. http://eorganic.info/tomi
