Awaiulu is dedicated to developing resources and resource people that can bridge Hawaiian knowledge from the past to the present and the future. Ceres Trust provides support to Awaiulu for the training of new translators and resource people who utilize the historical Hawaiian language repository – including over 75,000 pages of Hawaiian newspapers now available to the public digitally – to generate Hawaiian and English language resources for today. Language revitalization can be a renaissance of knowledge, but only when connected to the history and body of knowledge of the culture.
